Ms. Berry was known for helping TRIO students and families in times of financial crisis, providing shelter, mentoring, and putting other’s first. Although she encountered heavy difficulties, her legacy of helping students will continue through this memorial scholarship.

The Indiana TRIO Board of Directors has established a variety of scholarships to help finance higher education for Indiana first-generation, low-income, or students with disabilities who are active in Indiana TRIO programs. Scholarships are awarded annually to students based on community involvement, need, and their ability to articulate how TRIO has made a difference in their educational
journey. Only members of Indiana TRIO are eligible to submit applicants.
A complete submission include the following components:
a. How TRIO has influenced the student’s educational journey personally and going forward
b. Community/co-curricular/TRIO involvement and/or responsibilities outside of school
c. What receiving the scholarship funds would mean to them financially, academically etc.
5. An acceptance letter from a college or university (Cheryl L. Berry and Pre-College only)
All submissions must be made by the student’s TRIO Program. An IN TRIO member must submit all applications materials via the application submission steps below. The due date is Friday, March 15th at 11:59pm. Scholarships will be paid directly to the student after verification of enrollment and attendance at the university of their choice, by early September 2024. Students will be considered for any/all of the scholarships for which they qualify. Limit of six applications per program.
